In light of the current state of our nation and the world, followers of Jesus must step into new levels of spiritual insight, activation and warfare. There is a spiritual battle raging on the Earth.
The church’s primary or sole focus has been that of the return of Christ, leaving an apathetic approach to engagement in the spiritual, cultural and political climate of the earth. While, as followers of Christ, we are to look forward to His return, the question begs: ‘What are we to do until then?’
We could start with drawing our attention to the mandate of Genesis 1:28 and walk in this Original Great Commission. We are called to function as planet managers and stewards of culture. The battle rages because there are spiritual, cultural, and political forces which oppose the Gospel and its growth. Jesus appointed the Church to disciple nations by instructing us to live and walk in His revelation and commandments. Our goal is to disciple nations with the transformational power of the Gospel of Christ. Thus, we need to go the next level in our responsibilities in intercession and involvement on all the fronts of the battle. We will remember what the old hymn says: “There is victory in Jesus”.
