The Power of History

The thought of shaping the future is powerful, but past history is also very important. Karl Marx said, “If I can steal their history, I can steal their country.”

Roots are essential and powerful; foundations are critical. Before facing Goliath, David asked the question, “Is there not a cause?” Interestingly, the Hebrew word used for “cause” also means “history.” Therefore, David may have been asking his brother and fellow Israelites, “Is there not a history?”

What would David have meant by such a question? Perhaps he was asking, “Don’t we have a history worth believing in and fighting for?”

Or, thinking of his fellow Israelites’ unbelief, maybe David was asserting, “Is there not a history of faithfulness from our God that brings enough confidence to face this giant? What about Abraham and the promises made to him? Did God come through with Isaac and the land He promised? And what about the Exodus with all of its miracles? Come on guys, isn’t there enough of a history with God to bring the needed courage to face this giant? We have history on our side!”

In addition, David may have been referencing Israel’s covenantal history. The fact that they were in covenant with God meant that He would fight for them; their enemies were His enemies. Also, when in covenant with God, His resources were their resources. With God on their side they could not fail.

A history with God is powerful!

What about us as Christian Americans today facing the spiritual giants in our land? Do we have history on our side? “Yes!” scream the Pilgrims, our founding fathers, and early settlers.

Knowing the truth of what Marx stated when he spoke of a country‘s history, there are anti-God forces today trying to rewrite American history. But we have a godly heritage in this nation that cannot be denied.

Examples abound. As the founding fathers of America declared their independence from England, they also acknowledged their dependence upon God. Very aware that he was the author of their existence, they stated their reliance on God to provide the wisdom and leadership necessary to create and maintain a new nation.

The Declaration of Independence has four clear references to God and concludes with these words:

 

         And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection

         of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes

         and our sacred honor.

 

After signing the Declaration, some wept. Others, like Witherspoon, bowed their heads in prayer. Samuel Adams rose and stated, “We have this day restored the Sovereign, to whom alone men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and…from the rising to the setting sun, may His kingdom come.”

Now that is some history to build on!

The Appeal to Heaven movement is all about restoring the Sovereign and His Son, Jesus, to His rightful place in America.

  1. We look to the past to remember all the wonders of our God, this builds our faith knowing that God will again visit his people. Our history is a rich heritage of God’s faithfulness and always give us hope. The foundation is Christ and history is the “building” God has built.

We need to keep PRAYING for the POTUS to keep his/America’s covenant with the Jewish people in the face of all nation’s turning their backs, by the way we love them and this will bring in the biggest harvest for the coming of the Lord. Please be in prayer about this, he confirmed this word in his word. Rev 7, Isaiah 11:11, Ezikel 7,8,9, 12:28, 1 Corinthians 16, 2 Corinthians 1:11. I AM A NORMAL PERSON AND DON’T KNOW HOW TO RELEASE THIS WORD, PLEASE TELL THE PEOPLE! GOD BLESS YOU AND I LOVE YOUR MINISTRY!

  3. Thank you for taking the lead in our intercession for our nation. You are providing guidance and direction so that our prayers are united and thus more effective. Many years ago God gave me a dream in which I was praying for people in the church. You were one of them. I continue to pray for you as you lead us in putting God back in His proper place in our nation. May the Lord richly bless you and all that pertains to you as you continue to lead us in this time.

  4. Ahmein! In 100 % agreement and praying with your ministry and “Give Him 15” prayer prompts. I know there is mountain moving, revival fire in prayers of the blood bought righteous sons and daughters who come together in agreement and faith, believing!

  5. Yes David did stand and fight Goliath. For the shake of History. So why aren’t American standing up for the sake of our own history? Because the body of Believers are weak if not so then there would be no statues that have been taken down to them remove our history. And there would still be prayer in Schools and people wouldn’t Kneel for the national anthem. the church doesn’t rise up and take a stand like David did we will not have any history. shalom

  6. Sweden suffers from the same denial-of-history-syndrom as America, we stand with you in your fight, which is our fight as well! Now God is about to shake everything that han be shaken, – för His Kindom to come and His will to be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven

  7. I’m on board. Two years ago I had a desire to do a genealogy search. Had no idea I had influential ancestors back to the founding of this country and nation. I asked God why I was led to find the info. He said it was to pray with increased authority for this land. Then, I heard you speak of the same thing in confirmation. Praise God for His Spirit leading us into His purposes!

    Also, I am one of two people in Trinidad, Colorado who share this vision. Good people here, but, their horizon is frozen. I think Trinidad is stuck. They don’t hear the Lord say, “Come up here.” Many believers who do good works. But, they can’t seem to be moved to prayer for our Nation. I am a part of the 24/7 National Strategic Prayer Call and we are praying for the Nation and our President…..24/7

    I will continue to follow and hopefully I will be able to connect in the future, with the Journey Church in Colorado Springs, and, its intercessors. Rita
